During the Union Home Minister’s visit to the state in 2021 a memorandum was also submitted by the government, he said.

He stated that the resolution passed by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to implement ILP is important and the State Government is perusing and hoped that a logical conclusion is reached regarding the issue.

Sawkmie suggested that the chief minister should go along with all 60 legislators to meet the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister in New Delhi and urge them for implementation of ILP system in the state as all members of the assembly had unanimously passed a resolution demanding the same in December, 2019.
