Shillong: The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya has been on the rise with 162 new cases increasing the number of active cases to 991, even as 69 more cases of recovery from the viral infection surged the number of recovered cases to 83,666 on Saturday, health officials said.
The state has so far registered 86,147 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 1,490 cases of fatality.
The most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong, recorded 121 new COVID-19 cases and 50 cases of recovery on Saturday , even as the district has 782 active cases, according to data furnished by the directorate of health services.
Meanwhile, 23 new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in the West Garo Hills, which has 89 active cases, six cases in Ri-Bhoi district, which has 61 active cases, three cases each in East Jaintia Hills district, South West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district, which
have 10, three and 17 active cases respectively, while the South Garo Hills district had three active cases and the South West Khasi Hills had nine active cases, as per the latest official case count.
Of the 1285327 persons tested for Covid-19 in the state till today, 1199180 tested negative for the virus, the Covid dashboard reflected.
On the other hand, 32,105 health care workers have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 29,237 have been administered with the second dose, 3,485 have taken the third precautionary dose, 96,984 front-line workers have got the first dose, 84,787 have taken the
second shot, 5,632 have received the third booster dose, 11,48,089 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 7,97,413 persons have been vaccinated with the second dose and 313 have received the precautionary dose across the state as on date, as per the National Health Mission record.
Meanwhile, Governor Satya Pal Malik, who is a senior citizen, was administered with the third precautionary dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 in the Raj Bhawan here on Saturday.
