Meghalaya registers 275 new Covid-19 cases, two deaths

The state has so far registered 86807 confirmed Covid-19 cases, according to data furnished by the directorate of health services.

Shillong: The number of active Covid-19 cases shot up to 1318 in Meghalaya on Tuesday with 275 new cases of infection, while two cases of death due to the viral disease increased the number of fatalities to 1492, even as 162 more cases of recovery surged the number of recovered cases to 83997, health officials said. 

The state has so far registered 86807 confirmed Covid-19 cases, according to data furnished by the directorate of health services.

The numbers of active Covid-19 cases have gone up to 991 in the most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong with 193 new cases and two deaths due to the viral disease registered in the district on Tuesday. 

On the other hand, 35 new Covid-19 cases were detected today in West Garo Hills, which has 131 active cases, 20 cases were detected in Ri-Bhoi, which has 84 active cases, nine cases were detected in West Khasi Hills district, which has 27 active cases, six cases were detected in West Jaintia Hills, which has 28 active cases, four cases were detected in South West Khasi Hills, which has 10 active cases, three cases were detected in East Jaintia Hills, which has 28 active cases, three cases were detected in South West Garo Hills, which has seven active cases, one case was detected in East Garo Hills, which has four active cases and one case was detected in South Garo Hills district, which has five active cases, as per the latest official case count. 

Of the 1292504 persons tested for Covid-19 in the state till Tuesday, 1205697 were tested negative for the virus, the state Covid dashboard reflected.

Meanwhile, 32106 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29254 have been administered with the second dose and 4058 have received the third precautionary dose, while 96985 front-line workers have got the first jab, 84863 have taken the second shot and 7161 have taken the precautionary dose, even as 1157626 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 801271 have received the second dose and 529 have taken the booster dose across the state as on date, according to the National Health Mission record.
