Shillong: Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded more recoveries than new cases as 295 persons recovered from the viral disease, surging the number of recovered cases to 75,436 in the State, which has registered 78,486 confirmed cases so far, health officials said.
The State also reported two new COVID-19 deaths, who were unvaccinated against COVID-19, mounting the number of fatalities due to the ongoing pandemic to 1,361 and 127 new cases of infections taking the number of active case up to 1,689.
The East Khasi Hills, which includes State capital Shillong, continues to be the most pandemic hit district accounting for 75 of the new cases of infection detected on Tuesday.
The East Khasi Hills also has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases at 761 and 939 deaths, while other districts of the State have much lesser number of active cases.
On the other hand, 32,046 health care workers had received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 26,514 were administered with the second dose, 96,956 front-line workers received the first jab and 73,371 took the second shot, 9,21,586 persons from among the general public were inoculated with the first dose and 2,74,779 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose across the State as on date, health officials.
