Shillong: The Meghalaya High Court on Friday sought a detailed report on exorbitant charges by the private hospitals for the COVID-19 patients in the State.

Taking up for hearing a PIL on the matter in regard to Suo Moto Cognizance of Deficiencies in Health Services in the State of Meghalaya, Vs. the Union of India, a division bench comprising of Chief Justice Ranjit More and Justice Wally Diengdoh, requested the Amicus Curiae, T.T.Diengdoh to file affidavit bringing on record the details about the exorbitant charges by the private hospitals for the COVID-19 patients with an advance copy thereof to Advocate General and counsels for other respondents.

For further hearing, the PIL is adjourned to November 22.
