Manipur registers 6 deaths, 275 + cases, positivity rate remains high at 12.6%

Three of the six deceased persons were from Churachandpur, two from Bishnupur and one from Imphal East. The cumulative death toll in the state with these six deaths now stands at 1,716.

Imphal: Manipur recorded just six covid related deaths after several weeks as also a significantly reduced positive cases of 275 from among the general population but the positivity rate remains high at 12.6% as only a total of 2,183 persons were tested in the last 24 hours leading up to 5 pm of Monday. During the same period, the state also recorded 346 recoveries, as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

Three of the six deceased persons were from Churachandpur, two from Bishnupur and one from Imphal East. The cumulative death toll in the state with these six deaths now stands at 1,716.

Four of those who succumbed had co-morbidities while one of them had had been vaccinated with the 1st dose.

The 275 persons (130 males, 145 females) who tested positive from amongst the general population include 88 from Imphal East, 62 from Imphal West, 39 from Bishnupur, 24 from Churachandpur,19 from Ukhrul, 15 from Kakching, eight from Thoubal, five from Tamenglong and two from Chandel.

 Meanwhile, 546 persons were discharged which include 203 from home isolation, 138 from CHICs, 155 from CCCs, 16 from JNIMS and 34 from RIMS. The recovery rate in the state stands at 92.64 % on Monday.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 1,08,545(General Population – 1, 04,471, Central Security Personnel – 4,074). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 1,00,559(General Population – 96,543, Central Security Personnel – 4,016). The number of active cases is 6,270(General Population – 6,217, Personnel – 53).

Altogether 322 were vaccinated on August 15, 2021. The cumulative number of vaccination is 14, 40,444(1st dose 11,67,957, 2nd dose 2,72,487).

The total number of vacant hospital beds available in the state as on August 16, is 262 which include 204 general beds and 58 ICU/HDU beds.

Of the total 3547 beds available in CCCs in the state on August 16, 1126 are occupied while 2421 are vacant, the release added.
