Ukhrul, Thoubal distirct administrations also celebrate India’s 75th Independence Day

The Deputy commissioner Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson, was the Chief Guest at the celebration, which was held at the Mini-Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul Sunday in the presence of DLOs and their employees, CSOs leaders and the public.

Imphal:    The 75th Independence Day was also observed at Ukhrul and Thoubal at the respective district headquarters.

The Deputy commissioner Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson, was the Chief Guest at the celebration, which was held at the Mini-Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul Sunday in the presence of DLOs and their employees, CSOs leaders and the public.

Joseph Pauline Kamson paid tributes to the sacrifices made by the great freedom fighters of the nation. He said we should honour them by remembering their great works and sacrifices made for our motherland and never forget that “it is because of them we stand today as free India” The chief guest also highlighted the various flagship programmes for the welfare of the society taken up by the state government.

Addl. SP (OPS), Ukhrul, Ringthing Hongchui commanded the parade comprising of Manipur Police, 6th battalion Manipur Refiles and Ex- Servicemen. 87 awards, certificateswere handed over to the employees of various departments for their relentless services. ZEO department won the best gate display out of nine departmental gate constructions. A patriotic song was presented by the students of Kendiya Vidyalaya, Ukhrul. Red blankets were also given out to few village headmen during the function.

In Thoubal district too, the 75th Independence Day was celebrated on Sunday, the 15th August, 2021 at Mini Secretariat Complex, Thoubal with minimum participation in view of the ongoing Covid-19 situation.

Deputy Commissioner of the district, Rangnamei Rang Peter hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute of a police contingent led by Parade Commander, Dy. SP (Ops), Thoubal, Ashangbam Khelendra Singh.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Rangnamei Rang Peter paid homage to our nation builders who contributed to the Country’s independence. He also mentioned about the sacrifices and contribution of the patriots and other unsung heroes. 

Speaking on the Covid-19 situation in the district, the Chief Guest expressed his gratitude to all the health and frontline workers of Covid-19 for their selfless service to the people and to all Locality Covid Committee Members, MLAs, Panchayats and all concerned who have extended their support and cooperation to fight against Covid pandemic. 

Praising Mirabai Chanu for her achievement in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, the Chief Guest also highlighted the various achievements of the country in different fields during seventy-five years of India’s  Independence.

He also reminded as a responsible citizen, one should know one’s duty as he knows his rights and entitlement for peaceful coexistence and prosperity. 

As part of the function, the Chief Guest also presented the Certificate of Appreciation Award to about 140 people from different departments for their dedication and commitment to the fight against the Covid pandemic.

ADM, AC to DC, Addl. SP, DSP, DLOs and staff of DC office, Thoubal were present on the occasion.
