Manipur records highest single day spike of 433 positive cases Tuesday

Imphal: Manipur saw the highest number of positive cases of 433 in a single day ever since the Coronavirus pandemic hit the state in the last 24 hours leading to 5:00 pm of Tuesday. During the same time, two more deaths were reported, as  also 11 recoveries, an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

A 58-year-old male from Thoubal and a 45-year-old male from Bishnupur expired at JNIMS hospital, Imphal, taking the cumulative death toll due to the pandemic in the state as on Tuesday to 424.

Of the 432 persons (250 males 182 females) who tested positive from the general population, 183 of them are from Imphal West, 108 are from Imphal East, 42 of them belong to Churachandpur, 35 are from Kakching, 26 from Bishnupur,17 from Thoubal, 6 from Tamenglong, 5 from Ukhrul, 3 each from Senapati and Jiribam, 2 from Kamjong and 1 from Kangpokpi.

The 111 recoveries include 87 from home isolation, 9 from JNIMS, 6 from SHRI, 4 each from CAPF and RIMS and 1 from Raj Medicity.16 RIMS, 10 from CAPF, 3 from SHRI, 2 from RD Wing and 1 from Raj Medicity. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 91.45%.

The cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 32,956(General Population — 29,370 and Central Security Personnel — 3,586). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 30,141(General Population — 26,675 CAPF— 3,466). The number of active cases is 2391 (general population 2276 CAPF 115).

 Meanwhile, the Health department has instructed air passengers who travelled to the state on May 2 by Indigo Flight 6E-6181 in rows 11 – 17, to inform Covid Common Control Room 1800343818 or respective District Surveillance Officer (DSO).

The official release also informed that in the last 24 hours, a total of 659 D type oxygen cylinders and 176 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.

As per the latest information, the total number of vaccination 221983.

The official release further advised all persons above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.
