Manipur records 13 deaths, the highest in a single day till date, 380 positive cases Thursday

In the last 24 hours, a total of 677 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 516 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.

Imphal: Manipur saw the worst day yet of the second wave Coronavirus pandemic with 13 deaths, the highest in a single day, and 380 positive cases (362 general population and 18 CAPF) in the past twenty-four hours leading up to 5:00 pm of Thursday, as per an official release from the Covid Common Control Room.

The 13 persons who succumbed include, a 40 yrs, male from Imphal East who expired at Bal Bhavan, a 55 yrs, male from Churachandpur who passed away at District Hospital, Churachandpur, a 67 yrs, male resident of Kakching who expired at Jivan hospital and a 63 yrs, female resident of Bishnupur who expired at Raj Medicity. Two others, a 45 yrs,  male from  imphal West and a 55 yrs, male from Imphal West expired at Shija Hospital. Four, including a 46 yrs, male from Bishnupur, 52 yrs, female from Imphal West, a 78 yrs, male from  Imphal East and an 80 yrs, male from  Imphal East passed away at JNIMS while a 50 yrs, male from Imphal West, a 66 yrs, male from  Imphal East) and a 75 yrs, male from Imphal West expired at RIMS hospital. The cumulative number of deaths in the state now stands at 447.

Of the 362 persons (192 males and I 70 females) from general population, 170 of them are from Imphal West, 116 from Imphal East, 29 from Churachandpur, 23 from Kakching, 5 each from Tamenglong and Thoubal, 4 each from Bishnupur, Ukhrul and Kangokpi, and 1 each from Senapati and Noney.

During the same period, 33 persons recovered, 14 of them from Home Isolation, 8 each from RIMS and SHRI, 2 from Bal Bhavan and 1 form RD Wing. The recovery rate in the state drops significantly to 89.80 %.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 33,733 (General Population — 30.109 and Central Security Personnel — 3,624). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 30,295 (General Population — 26,828 and Central Security Personnel — 3.467). The number of active cases is 2991 (General Population —2839 and Central Security Personnel — 152).

In the last 24 hours, a total of 677 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 516 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.

Meanwhile, the Health Department instructed air passengers who travelled to the State on May 3, 2021 by Air India flight AI-3713 in rows 12-18 are to inform the Common Covid Control Room 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.

As per latest information, the total number of persons vaccinated is 242359, the release added.
