Imphal: The Government of Manipur has constituted a One-Man Commission to Inquiry to be presided over by Retd, District & Session Judge, Manipur, U Kol Singh, to inquire into the circumstances leading to the death of Late Ningombam Premananda Singh (Ex-VDF), said a notification issued by Commissioner (Home), T Ranjit Singh, on Monday.
The late Ningombam Premananda Singh (37), son of N Dina Singh of Okram Maning Leikai, Thoubal district, went missing on the intervening night of January 21-22, while on duty as a poppy plantation destruction officer for Chakpikarong Police Station in Chandel district.
Later, on February 3, 2023, his body was found in M Lebanon village, under Chakpikarong Police Station, Chandel District.
The terms of reference of the Commission are;
i) To enquire into the causes and circumstances leading to the death of Late N Premananda Singh (Ex-VDF).
ii) To find out whether the unfortunate incident could have been averted.
iii) To find out who is/are responsible for the death of Late N Premananda Singh (Ex-VDF)
iv) To recommend corrective measures and remedies to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
The Commission will be headquartered in Imphal and will submit its report within three months of the issue of this notification.
