Churachandpur: In a significant step to assess ground realities of the ongoing crisis, a panel of the Commission of Inquiry (Manipur Violence) 2023, led by Hon’ble Chairperson Justice B. S. Chauhan, today visited the Prefabricated Relief Camp at Torbung in Churachandpur district.

The visiting panel included two other members of the Commission, along with the Secretary to Hon’ble Commission Shri Mohan Lal Meena IAS, Commissioner (Home) Ashok Kumar IAS.

Key district officials present during the visit included Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, Additional Deputy Commissioner Seiminthang Lenthang, SDO Churachandpur Anunay Anand, SDO Kangvai Th Mangminthang Gangte, and SDO Tuibong Jangminlen Lupho.

During the visit, the Commission interacted directly with inmates of the relief camp, hearing first-hand accounts of displacement, hardship, and concerns arising from the violence. The interaction enabled camp residents to articulate their grievances, living conditions, and expectations from the administration.

The visit forms part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to gather first-hand evidence and ensure that the inquiry remains firmly anchored in the lived experiences of affected communities.
