Manipur militants call for boycott of PM’s visit

The Publicity committee of Cor Com issued a statement here that claimed there will be a total shut down from 1 AM on January 4 till the departure of the PM.

Imphal: The Cor Com, an umbrella of Manipur based insurgent groups, on Sunday called for a boycott of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state on January 4. 

The Publicity committee of Cor Com issued a statement here that claimed there will be a total shut down from 1 AM on January 4 till the departure of the PM.

The statement said Modi will be visiting to seek votes for the ensuing Assembly elections. It alleged that democracy exists by name only in Manipur and “draconian law like AFSPA 1958 has been imposed in the state”.

It alleged that THE election and the visit during the outbreak of Covid, and its Omicron variant were not advisable.
