Manipur IPR to observe National Press Day

National Press Day is observed every year all over the states in India. It is symbolic of a free and responsible press in India.

Imphal: Directorate of Information and Public Relations will observe National Press Day on 16th November, 2022 at Palace Auditorium, MSFDS, Palace Gate. Manipur State Journalist Awards 2022 will be presented to the winners in 8 different categories on the day.

The awardees are Ningombam Hemantakumar  of Sanaleibak Daily for Best Editor Award on National Integration & Communal Harmony; Moirangthem Khagemba Meetei, Reporter of Sanaleibak Daily for Reporting on Public Health & Hygiene;  Moirangthem Khagemba Meetei, Reporter of Sanaleibak for Rural Reporting; Robinson Wahengbam, Staff Reporter of Sanaleibak Daily for Reporting on Art & Culture; Taorem Bishwajit Singh, Sub-Editor of Sanaleibak Daily for Parliamentary Reporting; Maibam Kenedy Singh Reporter of Sanaleibak Daily for Science & Technology Reporting; Rabi Takhellambam, Reporter of Sanaleibak Daily for Reporting on Women and Children and Khumukcham Joychand Singh, Sub-Editor of Hueiyen Lanpao for Sports Reporting.

National Press Day is observed every year all over the states in India. It is symbolic of a free and responsible press in India. This was the day on which the Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watchdog to ensure that not only did the press maintain the high standards expected from this powerful medium but also that it was fettered by the influence or threats of any extraneous factors. November 16 therefore personifies a responsible and free press in the country. All those who cherish it, commemorate the day.  

As a part of the observation a seminar on “ The Media’s Role in Nation building” will be held at 9:30 AM at the Preview Theatre of MSFDS, Palace Gate, Imphal East.
