Manipur: Health Minister Dr Ranjan launches State Tele MANAS Cell

Speaking as Chief Guest at the occasion Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh said the necessity of mental health care has been gaining momentum after the pandemic of COVID-19.

Imphal: Health & IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh has launched State Tele MANAS Cell, Manipur, as a part of the National Tele Mental Health Program, Monday. 

The launching function was held at Dr. Kamal Hall, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Lamphelpat.

Speaking as Chief Guest at the occasion Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh said the necessity of mental health care has been gaining momentum after the pandemic of COVID-19. Awareness on mental health care has become highly necessary nowadays. Organizing awareness programs in this regard will also help the public. Opening of Tele MANAS Cell will really help, he added.

He said digitization of health care services will help to streamline and improve the health care service in the state. The fast- growing Tele Health Care service has also made it easily accessible to health check-up and treatment, the Minister added.   

Ranjan maintained that COVID-19 has affected the world socially and economically. It has given a mental impact to the world. We need to create an atmosphere where there is no stress. Stress may lead to have the tendency of suicide. There have been many such examples earlier, he informed. 

Director, Health Services Manipur, Dr. Kh. Sasheekumar Mangang, Director RIMS, Imphal, Dr. L. Ranjit, Director NHM, Manipur, Dr. Somorjit Ningombam, Prof. RK. Lenin, Head of Department, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal also graced the occasion as President and Guests of Honor respectively. Officials and staff of Medical Directorate and NHM, Manipur, Doctors and others also attended the occasion.
