Imphal: Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh extend their heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur especially our Christian brethren on the occasion of Good Friday.
“The occasion of Good Friday reminds us of the compassion and supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ for all the sins of mankind. His message of love, forgiveness, truth and renunciation of violence, fanaticism or revenge should always be remembered by one and all,” the lady said in a statement here on Friday.
On this holy and pious occasion, let’s all come forward and uphold the noble ideals of peace, harmony and brotherhood espoused by Him for a better world, devoid of all evils. Let this sacred day be observed in its truth spirit, the Governor added.
Despite agony in the midst of cruelty around Him, Jesus Christ on the cross said, “Father, forgive them, for they not know what they do,” the Chief Minister remembered.
In his message, Biren said Good Friday symbolizes the supreme sacrifice made by Lord Jesus Christ for mankind. The crucifixion of the Lord and His resurrection on Easter Sunday are manifestations of the triumph of good over evil. His teaching emphasizes a world free from inequality and injustice, the Chief Minister added.
On the solemn occasion of Good Friday and in the celebration of Easter Sunday, let us rededicate ourselves to the people virtues of love, peace and forgiveness for strengthening the bond of brotherhood and unity amongst all communities of the state, Biren appealed.
