Manipur Equestrian Team to take part in Regional Equestrian League at Bangalore

It is for the first time that the Manipur Equestrian Association is sending riders to take part in the Regional League in partnership with Royal Equestrian Academy, which will be providing horses during the training and the League.

Imphal: The Manipur Equestrian Team comprising Thangjam Basanta as the Captain, Khundongbam Deventy, Ningthoujam Meenakumari, Sinam Saolin, Sinam Bonbon and N Ibungochoubi as the Manager will represent Manipur in the Regional Equestrian League being held at Bangalore.

It is for the first time that the Manipur Equestrian Association is sending riders to take part in the Regional League in partnership with Royal Equestrian Academy, which will be providing horses during the training and the League. 

The Riders, which left Imphal Friday for Bangalore will attend an intensive training programme of Show Jumping and Dressage at the Royal Equestrian Academy (REA), Bangalore for ten days prior to the Regional Equestrian League being held at ASC Riding and Polo Academy, Bangalore from September 15 to 17.

H Deleep Singh, the President of the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA) emphasized the importance of big horses being maintained and trained by the Association for the purpose of Equestrian events. While wishing the team, he expressed his happiness that a team of Riders will take part in the training programme of the Royal Equestrian Academy. 

N Bedajeet Singh, Chairman of the Manipur Equestrian Association (MEA) stated that the Association is reaching out to other Equestrian Institutes or Academy for better performance and future of our riders from the state. He was optimistic that the Manipuri Riders will perform well in the Regional and National Equestrian events with proper training on the big horses.

Dr S Joy Kumar, former President of the Manipur Equestrian Association also addressed the gathering before departure of the team and encouraged the young riders to wholeheartedly devote and learn all the basics of Dressage and Show Jumping.
