Imphal: In a significant operation, Assam Rifles troops recovered a large quantity of narcotic substances, suspected to be Amphetamine (commonly known as WY), during a recent mission in the Shalluk area of Chandel District, Manipur, on Saturday.
Acting on credible intelligence, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was set up near Shalluk, where two individuals traveling on a two-wheeler were stopped for inspection.
Upon frisking, the troops recovered 100 packets containing around 20,000 tablets (weighing approximately 2 kg) of the suspected substance, with an estimated street value of Rs 20 lakh. The apprehended individuals and the seized items were handed over to Chakpikarong Police Station for further investigation.
Areca Nuts Seized
In a separate operation, Assam Rifles personnel conducted a search in the Tengnoupal district, leading to the recovery of 20 bags of areca nuts, weighing approximately 1,005 kg.
The seized items are valued at around Rs 8.7 lakh and have been handed over to the Customs Department for further legal proceedings.
