Mandal officer, talathi arrested for graft in Sangli

Accused Shashikant Dnyadev Omase (46), who working as Mandal officer, and Vijay Shankar Omase (36, talathi), had demanded Rs 3,000 as bribe from complainant for issuing a new 7/12 land certificate in his father's name, a press release issued by ABC said here.

Sangli:Two people, including the Mandal officer and the talathi (revenue officer), were arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a complainant at Karanje village in Khanapur tehsil of the district on Tuesday.
Accused Shashikant Dnyadev Omase (46), who working as Mandal officer, and Vijay Shankar Omase (36, talathi), had demanded Rs 3,000 as bribe from complainant for issuing a new 7/12 land certificate in his father’s name, a press release issued by ABC said here.
However, complainant informed about this to Sangli division office of ACB, whose team laid a trap at Karanje village and caught red-handed both the Mandal officer and the talathi while accepting bribe money from the complainant, it added.
