Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged that the assault on the TMC supporters in Tripura was on the instruction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and urged the youth force to protest against the manhandling.
” The assault on our party supporters in Tripura was on the instruction of Amit Shah. Because the chief minister of that state has no courage to do such thing,” Ms Banerjee, who is also, the Trinamool Congress chairperson told reporters at the SSKM Hospital in south Kolkata.
Ms Banerjee this morning visited the hospital to see the wounded Jaya Dutta and Sudip Raha, who have been admitted last night here after being air dashed from Agartala.
TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the nephew of the Chief Minister brought them in a special aeroplane and got them admitted to the hospital.
After visiting the injured TMC leaders at Woodburn Ward, chief minister Mamata Banerjee alleged ” the way they have beaten was barbarous and the assault happened in front of the Tripura police. The police also beat them up and did not serve water for more than 36 hours.”
Ms Banerjee also alleged that the party MP Abhishek Banerjee’s life was also in danger as the BJP goons had attacked and stoned his car when he went to rescue the party leaders.
‘He was saved because the government provided him with a bulletproof car, said Ms Banerjee ” It was a bulletproof car, So he survived. Otherwise, the car would have been wrecked. “
” BJP is a monstrous party. Wherever this party ruled in the country like Assam and UP there is always violence if TMC leaders and MPs go for any national issue like that of NRC,” said Ms Banerjee.
On Saturday the TMC leaders Debanshu Bhattacharya, Jaya Dutta and Sudip Raha were allegedly assaulted. Later they sat for Dharna at Khoyai police station for security where 14 TMC supporters were arrested.
