Kangpokpi : The 80th Independence Day, 2026, organized by the District Administration of Kangpokpi, was celebrated at the DC Mini Secretariat Complex. The Chief Guest of the function, Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi, Hemant Kumar, IAS, took the General Salute followed by the playing of Vande Mataram. The DC inspected the contingents comprising the NCC Cadets, 112 Battalion CRPF, Civil Police, IRB, Women Police, school students, and EMRS schools. This was followed by the unfurling of the National Flag to the tune of the National Anthem. The parade was commanded by L. Lhunminlal Khongsai, MPS, SDPO Kangpokpi.
Addressing the public, the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi district paid rich tributes to the nation’s freedom fighters and highlighting the indispensable role of security forces—including the Armed Forces, Police, and CAPF—in safeguarding the district’s unity and peace. Acknowledging the complex challenges faced by the region in recent times, the DC emphasized that peace remains the essential foundation for all lasting development. Demonstrating significant progress in rehabilitation efforts, the administration highlighted the successful resettlement of over 2,500 displaced families (exceeding 10,000 individuals) over the past three years, supported by targeted livelihood assistance such as black rice cultivation and local enterprise schemes. The DC also reaffirmed the district’s strategic importance following key developments like the reopening of the National Highway for free movement and logistics.
Looking toward future growth, the Deputy Commissioner outlined a roadmap focused on strengthening infrastructure, improving connectivity, and ensuring total administrative accessibility across remote areas. He highlighted citizen-centric digital services—such as 24/7 WhatsApp governance—and progress under schemes like PM-JANMAN across 61 targeted villages. Emphasizing youth development, women’s empowerment through SHGs, and local enterprise growth, the DC called on officials, village authorities, CSOs, and citizens to work together toward a peaceful, resilient, and prosperous Kangpokpi in alignment with the Viksit Bharat vision.
Later appreciation certificates were handed out to government employees, the event was followed by cultural troupe from ITI Thadou-Kuki dance troupe & Nepali dance by Kalapahar high school.Today’s event was also attended by SP Kangpokpi Rahul Gupta, IPS; Lamminlal Simte MCS, ADM, MCS; James Doujapao MCS SH-ADC, SDO’s, DLO’s, citizen of Kangpokpi among others
