Imphal: A Mini-Complex at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai (Nganu Lampak) was inaugurated by MLA Sagolband AC Rajkumar Imo Singh in presence of Councillors RK Jiten Singh and Salam Tiken on Friday. The mini complex includes a waiting shed, compound fencing, washbasin, bathroom complex.
Speaking at the inaugural function, RK Imo Singh said that Sagolband is one of the most developed constituencies in Manipur, most roads are blacktopped, most roads are well lighted with street lights including the locality roads, most localities have new water pipelines which were laid over the last 7-8 years and new drains have been constructed in various localities.
The MLA also informed that a new water overhead reservoir is also being constructed at Tera, which will benefit the people of Sagolband. He said he has been rendering his service to the people over the last 9 odd years and especially in the last 1/2 years during these Covid times. “It was an opportunity to reach out to the people during these tough times, a duty which we have been able to perform to the best of our ability”, the MLA added
RK Imo recalled opening a quarantine centre at Johnstone School during the first wave of the pandemic, and various vaccination centres across Sagolband in the second wave. “As Sagolband did not have a PHC, we had to open a temporary one at Bijoy Govinda for this purpose for the welfare of the people. We were able to conduct lots of Covid tests across localities to check the spread of this disease”, said RK Imo while thanking the health department for being with the people during these times.
Maintaining that his main focus is on the welfare of the people of Sagolband, especially the women, RK Imo for this precise reason the Women Wing of Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee was formed. “There are 8300 women voters enlisted in the women wing which are divided into smaller committees as per locality. They meet on a regular basis and are given free ration items every month. These women committee members identify the downtrodden families which are then given benefits as per requirements like gas, safety tank for bathroom, housing, old age and widow pension too:, he added.
RK Imo Singh also laid the Foundation Stone for a new community hall at Sayang, the first phase of which will be completed before election and total completion of the community hall is targeted for next year Diwali.
