Aurangabad: The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 55 fresh COVID-19 cases and no deaths were reported due to the virus during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed on Saturday.

The district headquarters report stated that of eight districts in the region, Aurangabad district was the worst-affected with 20 cases, followed by Beed had 13 cases, Laturhad 7 cases, Parbhani had six cases, Jalna recorded 4 each case, Nanded had 3 cases and Osmanabad had two cases and Hingoli district nil, they added.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 906 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 66,28,744.

The state also registered 15 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,40,707.

Meanwhile, 918 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 64,72,681 the recovery rate currently stands at 97.64 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.

At present, there are 11,704 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.
