Imphal: The present Kuki aggression against the Meiteis in Manipur was funded by drug-money and illegal immigrants from Myanmar, Mizoram and Bangladesh, said Meitei Resurgence Forum (MReF) here on Saturday.

The whole plan (aggression)  was pre-planned and orchestrated by Kuki militants, MReF said in a statement, while condemning the present violent act of narco-terrorism unleashed by the SoO militants at the behest of Kuki drug mafia, politicians, intellectuals and frontal organisations.

It further charged that frontal organisations like ATSUM, Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF),  Manipur Tribal Forum, Delhi (MTFD) carried out the plan in the name of organising  a Tribal Solidarity Rally against the inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the ST list of India.

The Forum alleged that Paolienlal Haokip, MLA Saikot A/C, Churachandpur district was the chief  spokesperson for inciting Kuki sentiments and the whole militant aggression. In the aftermath of the rally, systemic arson of Meitei houses and properties  started across the Kuki dominated districts of Manipur at a specific time period.

Stating the aggressors expelled Meiteis from their ancestral land in Churachandpur established in 250 AD during the reign of Khoyum  Tompok, the Resurgence Forum said now the Kukis have erected signboards declaring the abandoned Meitei lands in Churachandpur and Khuga dam areas as tribal lands.

It informed that Meiteis were santised from Ikou, Yengkhomang, Mairenpat, Laitanpokpoki Awang Leikai, Dolaithabi in Imphal East. Every house has been burned to cinders.

Despite the irrefutable facts and chains of events, the Forum said, now, 10 Kuki MLAs have come out with a press statement replete with lies and distorted facts, stating, “Our people can no  longer exist under Manipur”.

In fact, as unfolding events show, it was a planned and coordinated act of violence, arson  and land grabbing by the Kuki militants. But under the shadow of the minority tag, they  are blaming the majority population without mentioning anything about the Meitei  victims, it added.
