Kakching DC imposes curfew in Serou and Sugnu for 3 weeks

Imphal: The District Magistrate of Kakching District has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPc) in the Serou and Sugnu areas of Waikohong Sub-division within the district’s revenue jurisdiction. This order takes effect from Friday noon and will remain in place for three weeks.

The prohibitory order follows reports from the Superintendent of Police, Kakching, indicating a likelihood of widespread disturbances to peace and public tranquillity due to the unlawful activities of certain anti-social elements.

The order prohibits the assembly of five or more persons at one place, carrying firearms, swords, sticks, stones, or other lethal weapons, and engaging in unauthorized construction activities. It also bans flying drones without written permission from the relevant authorities.

Government agencies, functionaries, and security forces involved in law enforcement and essential services are exempt from this order.

Additionally, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Waikohong Sub-division, Kakching District, has been appointed as the Executive Magistrate on duty. The SDM has been directed to take necessary actions to disperse any unlawful assembly, halt unauthorized activities, and stop any unauthorized construction.
