Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a hybrid militant and a militant associate of banned Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) in Bandipora and Budgam districts.
They also busted a hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Bandipora.
Police in a statement said that they have arrested an alleged militant associated with the “LeT Narco terror terrorist funding module” in Budgam.
They said during the course of the investigation of the recent case “FIR No. 116/2022 of Police Station Chadoora pertaining to busting of Narco terror terrorist funding module, one more terrorist associate identified Showkat Ahmed Ganie alias RK, son of Late Mohammad Kamal Ganie and a resident of Sheikhpora Wathoora Chadoora in Budgam district has been arrested”.
“The arrested terrorist associate was involved in providing logistic support to proscribed terror outfit LeT by distributing proceeds of narcotics to active terrorists and terror operatives of the outfit”, police added.
Police said on specific information Bandipora police along with 14 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 3rd Bn Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested one” hybrid terrorist” of banned LeT outfit at a Naka point established at Papchan Bandipora.
The accused has been identified as Mehboob-ul-Inam alias Farhaan son of Inam-ul-Haq Shah a resident of Nadihal Bandipora. One Chinese Grenade which he had kept under the seat of his Scooty.
“On interrogation/questioning the arrested Hybrid LeT terrorist disclosed before Security forces that he is associated with LeT and on their directions has made a hideout inside his shop at Nadihal Market, where killed terrorists of the outfit Hyder alias Abu Muslim, Abu Ismail alias Faisal, Abu Hamza alias Okasha, Gulzar alias Faizan used to hide and stay”, police said.
Police said, “he also confessed that they had kept Arms, ammunition and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials inside the hideout for which they were planning to recruit some local youths from North Kashmir, especially from Bandipora District to strengthen the cadre base of LeT organization”.
Police claimed that from the hideout arms and ammunition along with RDX & IED materials were seized including 3 AK Rifles 10 AK-47 Magazines, 380 Ak-47 live rounds, 3 Pouches, 2 YSMS Sets, 2 boxes of Detonators, Chargeable Pencil Cells 26, Chargeable Adopter 1, Sprayed Lubricant 2 Bottle, Matric Sheet 1, Nylon thread (Pakistan Made) 2, High Carbon Steel Balls 36 Boxes, wire set for IED (Grey Colour) 3, Wire set for IED (White Colour) 1, Wire set for IED (Red Colour) 1, IED Explosive (RDX) in centre Fruit Box 2 Kg, Dairy Milk Chocolate (Pakistani Made) 5, Bag (Quechua) 2 and 19 Daily use items.
A Case FIR has been registered and further investigation was taken up, police said.
