Converting the house into a memorial was the ‘wholehearted desire’ of the AIADMK party workers.

On a petition filed by Jayalalithaa’s niece J Deepa and nephew J Deepak, the High Court quashed the order issued by the previous AIADMK government acquiring Veda Nilayam and also directed that the house should be handed over to them in three weeks.

Following the court order, both Ms Deepa and Mr Deepak filed a petition before the Chennai Collector demanding handing over the keys of the house to them.
