Jal Shakti Abhiyan campaign launched in Manipur’s Thoubal

Chief Guest  of the function, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal A.Subhash Singh, in his speech said that each and every individual should conserve water when it is available in plenty as during the off season we all face water scarcity.

Thoubal: Jal Shakti Abhiyan:”Catch the rain 2022″ campaign was formally launched Tuesday in Thoubal  District. The program was organised by District Administration Thoubal with Water Resources, Jal Shakti Ministry as Nodal Department. The launching function was held at the Counting Hall of Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal. 

Chief Guest  of the function, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal A.Subhash Singh, in his speech said that each and every individual should conserve water when it is available in plenty as during the off season we all face water scarcity.

He urged the Divisional Forest Officer to widely continue afforestation activity in the catchment area in order to increase the rainfall. MGNREGS should also give emphasis towards water conservation like construction of ponds as there is gradual increase in water consumption in the district.

He also urged the head of departments to construct rain water harvesting structures on the roof top of their respective office buildings as an effort to conserve water. He said the students who are attending the function to implement the idea of water conservation as a daily habit at their home also as it is not so costly and also to give awareness to their neighbours .

The program was attended by ADM, Thoubal B.Lokeshor, CEO Zilla Parishad, DLO’S of various departments and school students from  various parts of the District. 

Similar programs of launching of Jal Shakti Abhiyan was also held at various Gram Panchayats of the District.
