Imphal: Rajesh Deshkar, Seva Pramukh of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Assam Khetra, on Sunday said that indigenous faith is the “mother of Hindutva” and the source of “Bharat consciousness”.

He made the remarks while addressing the valedictory function of the 15-day Sangh Shiksha Varg (Samanaya) held at Rajashree Bhagyachandra Skill Development Center, Haraorou in Imphal East district.

Deshkar said the Northeastern region continues to preserve and strengthen Bharatiya values and consciousness.

He further remarked that “without the Northeastern region of Bharat, the Mahabharata remains incomplete. The people and traditions of the Northeast occupy a central place in Bharat’s civilizational identity.”

Referring to historical personalities from the region, he said, “Rani Gaidinliu, Maharaja Kullachandra, Maharaja Bheigachandra, Maharaja Tikendrajit, Major Bob Khating etc are the symbol of Bharat consciousness, they lived for Bharat and sacrificed for the Bharat.”

Speaking on the vision of the RSS founder, Deshkar stated that Keshav Baliram Hedgewar envisioned a united Bharat and proclaimed Bharat as a Hindu nation. He added that since 1925, the organisation has continued its dedicated service and “tapasya” towards national reconstruction. “The purpose of Bharat is to show the right path to the world,” he added.

He also distinguished between “swadhinnata” and “swatantrata,” saying, “Freedom is swadhinnata, Bharat became Swadhin on 1947 but swatantrata is different. Swatantrata is a system based on the nature of our nation.”

Deshkar referred to Maharaja Bhagyachandra as an enduring example of Bharatiya cultural and spiritual values and said the RSS remembers and honours him every morning through the Ekatmata Stotram.

Emphasising national unity, he said Bharat is “one people and one nation” and has a responsibility to guide the world. To strengthen Bharatiya consciousness, he highlighted the importance of Parivar Prabodhan (family awakening), Samajik Samarasata (social harmony and equality), environmental protection, Swadeshi or vocal for local, and the practice of civic duties.

Speaking as chief guest, Potshangbam Renedy Singh praised the discipline, dedication and commitment of RSS karyakartas in nation-building. He also appreciated the endurance and sincerity shown by the shiksharthis during the 15 days of intensive training.

A total of 55 shiksharthis from different parts of the state successfully completed the 15-day Sangh Shiksha Varg.
