Imphal: As part of the Government’s relentless efforts to assist the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh today provided financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to an IDP family member who is currently facing serious health issues. The said IDP family has been taking shelter in the Relief Camp at Pravabati College, Mayang-Imphal, around 26 kms from Imphal City.
Upon his arrival at the college, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome at the fitness centre in the college campus.
At the fitness centre, Yumnam Khemchand Singh interacted with the representatives of IDPs and the college student’s union.
Later, the Chief Minister went to Charoipung Playground, Mayang-Imphal and inaugurated the newly constructed “Multipurpose Indoor Hall” under the Khelo India Scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister motivated the young players from the Mayang-Imphal Constituency. He said that India’s sports are not complete without the presence of players from Manipur, similarly the Sports of Manipur is also not complete without the players from Mayang-Imphal Constituency.
He added that once a player, he or she is always a player, despite ups and downs in their life.
On various demands raised by the local MLA, Kongkham Robindro Singh, the Chief Minister assured the people of the Constituency that a football turf will be constructed in the nearby area as desired. The fund for the construction of boys’ and girls’ hostel for the players will also be earmarked from the State budget and the construction of approach road will be initiated, he added.
The Chief Minister further stated that the unprecedented crisis in the State has caused hardship to all the communities. “We must forget the past and move forward towards development in the State”, he said.
He encouraged the people to form Self Help Groups (SHGs) as the government has already sanctioned around Rs 350 crore, which could be of help at the time of “Ningol Chakouba” festival.
The Chief Minister also distributed commendation certificates and plagues to the Players and Coaches who have brought fames to the State and announced that the indoor stadium will be opened for the people.
Yumnam Khemchand Singh also inaugurated a 100 bedded girls’ hostel, 8- class rooms, library, Science and craft block of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) at Heigum Yangbi, Mayang-Imphal, in Imphal West.
The Chief Minister also visited a 100 bedded hospital under Wangoi Sub-Division and took stock of the status of the ongoing construction work and interacted with the local womenfolk and assured them that the hospital would soon be made functional.
The Chief Minister also interacted with the All Mayang-Imphal Muslim Youth Development Organisation (AMIMYDO), at the AMMYDO Bengoon ground and the proposal for the construction of a volley ball court will be look into.
While delivering his presidential speech at the inauguration of Multipurpose Indoor Hall, at Charoipung Playground, Mayang Imphal, Home Minister Shri Govindas Konthoujam stated that the Mayang Imphal Constituency has witnessed a significant change during the last few years in terms of education, sports and communication as the people of this constituency has elected a young and dynamic leader. To elect a young leader is very beneficial for the people, he added.
Lauding the player of Mayang Imphal Constituency, the Home Minister stated that the players from this constituency has brought laurels not only for the State, but also for the country.
He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing National Sports University in the state, in recognition of the State’s potential in the field of games and sports.
