India signs off with Gold & Silver at the ISSF President’s Cup in Poland

Wroclaw: Manu Bhaker finished India’s campaign on a positive note at the ISSF President’s Cup, as the youngster along with her Turkish partner Ozgur Varlik bagged a Gold medal in the 25m Rapid fire Pistol Mixed team event in Poland.

India won a total of five medals (two golds, two silvers, and a bronze) at the President’s Cup 2021.

The Indo-Turkish pair defeated the duo of Xiao Jiaruixian(China)-Peeter Olesk (Estonia) by 9-7 in the Gold medal contest. While Clement Bessaguet (France) and his partner Doreen Vennekamp (Germany) won the Bronze medal.

Earlier, seasoned pistol shooter Rahi Sarnobat won Silver in 25m women’s Pistol event despite missing a few crucial shots due to weapon malfunction during the last two series. Also, her compatriot Manu Bhaker finished sixth in the finals.

On their way to the finals, Manu and Rahi finished second and fourth respectively, with an identical score of 583 in the qualification stage.

Besides, Manu also bagged a Gold partnering with Olympic champion Javad Faroughi in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event. While, Saurabh Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma claimed Silver and Bronze respectively in 10m Air Pistol Men’s event, earlier in the tournament.
