As many as 5.94 lakh electorates would seal the fate of 785 candidates of nine different parties contesting the civic poll on Nov 25 next.

Both the major oppositions CPI-M and Trinamool Congress accused the ruling BJP of forcefully capturing the seats knowing that they would lose the elections.

While CPI-M accuses BJP of attacking 34 including four of their candidates during the nomination process and forced to withdraw the candidature of 16 nominees, Trinamool congress alleged 11 attacks including five candidates.

The BJP has already secured victory in the seven civic bodies in Jirania, Ranirbazar and Mohanpur of West Tripura, Bishalgarh in Sepahijala, Santirbazar in South Tripura, Udaipur of Gomati district and Kamalpur in Dhalai.

However, police said an investigation has started against each of the incidents and all possible steps have been taken to hold peaceful elections in the remaining 222 seats.
