Tengnoupal: The District Administration of Tengnoupal celebrated the 78th Independence Day on Thursday at the District Headquarters, with Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, serving as the Chief Guest. The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag, accompanied by the Rashtriya Salute.
In his address to the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar emphasized that the nation is guided by the principles enshrined in the Constitution. He highlighted that India has chosen a path of social, economic, and political development, striving to uplift the lives of its citizens through various welfare initiatives.
At the district level, the DC elaborated on the ongoing implementation of development schemes aimed at improving the living standards of the local population. He noted that the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) plays a key role in executing these programs, including the NREGS, PMAY, BABP, IWMP, and PMGSY.
However, he acknowledged the challenges faced due to the district’s remote location and difficult terrain, which complicate the effective implementation of these initiatives. The Deputy Commissioner called on the public to actively participate and cooperate in the district’s development efforts. He also recognized that the day marks the anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The event featured participation from the District Police, 3 AR Band party, 49 Bn BSF, Phalbung Youth Club cultural troupe, St. Peter’s School, Tengnoupal Cultural troupe, Phunal Sambum, and the Maring War Dance troupe. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to outstanding employees from various departments by the Chief Guest.
In addition, sports equipment was distributed to various relief camps, including Loisi, Chahmol, Tengnoupal Govt H/S, Bongbal, Moreh Hr. Sec School, as well as to the District Sports Association and St. Peter’s School.
Later in the day, the Deputy Commissioner flagged off a Bike Rally organized by the Tengnoupal District Police as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign. The event was attended by Rahul Gupta, IPS SP Tengnoupal, DLOs, officials, and other dignitaries.
