Tamenglong: In a reassuring demonstration of communal harmony transcending ongoing state adversity, Assam Rifles in close coordination with Tangkhul and Kuki community leaders successfully facilitated the safe transit of eleven-year-old Master Eteudiak Newme to pursue his education in Uttarakhand. The young student from remote Teguaram Village in Tamenglong District had secured admission under a prestigious scholarship programme at Doon Sanskriti School in Dehradun but was on the verge of missing the opportunity due to acute financial constraints and logistical challenges.

Recognising the transformative power of education, the Chassad battalion of Assam Rifles intervened to meticulously manage the logistics of the arduous journey. After a grueling two-day trek from his non-motorable village to Tamenglong, the child arrived in Noney District on 26 June 2026. The onward journey to Imphal required passage through highly volatile, conflict-sensitive sectors. Demonstrating a shared commitment to the aspirations of the younger generation, stakeholders of both the Tangkhul and Kuki communities, civil administration and a dedicated team of Assam Rifles joined hands to guarantee a secure, seamless corridor. Assam Rifles completely sponsored and coordinated the road and air transportation, arranged transit accommodation, completed the formal school admission procedures in Dehradun and ensured the guardian’s safe return to Manipur. This collective humanitarian effort highlights how education and shared responsibility can unite communities, proving that the welfare of children remains a powerful common thread capable of bridging deep social divides.
