Heavy rain causes damage in Arunachal’s Kamle dist

It said the main water supply pipeline of the district HQs is reported to be damaged heavily, disrupting water supply to the residents of the township. Restoration work has been taken up on war footing which may take some time.

Itanagar: Landslides and flash flood triggered by heavy rain caused a lot of damages to both public and private property in various parts of Kamle district of Arunachal Pradesh recently, prompting the local legislator to urge the authorities concerned to assess the extent of damages and provide necessary aid to the affected people.

“Damages due to heavy downpour in the night of September 6 have been reported from the various circles of Kamle district. The rain caused landslides and inundated many Govt and private residences in the district headquarters, Raga,” an official source said here today.

It said the main water supply pipeline of the district HQs is reported to be damaged heavily, disrupting water supply to the residents of the township. Restoration work has been taken up on war footing which may take some time.

Reports of damages to agriculture fields and water supply structures have also been reported from Bam, Poku and Yukar villages under Kamporijo circle of the district.

Meanwhile, Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe has urged the Kamle District Administration and the DDMO, Raga to assess the damages caused and extend all necessary assistance to the affected families.
