Governor Uikey, CM Biren extend Durga Puja Greetings

Biren Singh while greeting the people of Manipur in his message said that “Durga Puja is celebrated in with different themes in various parts of India as it signifies the triumph of righteousness over evil. The festival has religious as well as cultural significance and also reminds us of the power of ethical and moral behaviour and the value system which are the bedrock of our society”.

Imphal: The Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh greeted the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja.

In her message, Governor Uikey said, “Durga Puja is one of the most popular festivals among the Hindus in the country and it is celebrated with great religious fervor and gaiety in Manipur”. “The festival signifies the triumph of good over evil and people from different walks of life, both young and old, join in the celebration. Apart from being a significant religious event, the festival also brings about emotional integrity among the people, she added.

Lastly, she urged all to join her in praying to Goddess Durga, the destroyer of evil and harbinger of peace, for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur.

Hoping that the festival will inspire all “to follow the path of righteousness and also reinforce the bond of brotherhood and amity among different communities in the state”, he sought Goddess Durga’s blessings for greater peace and prosperity for Manipur.
