Imphal: With Covid-19 cases in the second wave of the pandemic surging to record highs in Manipur, Sekmai Assembly constituency MLA Heisnam Dingo Singh Wednesday reiterated his appeal to people to get vaccinated in large number, saying that this is the only way to prevent the spread of this dreaded disease.
MLA Dingo also announced that a mobile vaccination drive will begin from June 26, starting from the Government Hindi Secondary School, Kanglatongbi to all the villages of the Assembly constituency.
“It is important for all adults to get vaccinated much before the arrival of the possible third wave of Covid-19 so that the transmission rate of coronavirus from them to others and possibly children is reduced,” said Dingo, quoting epidemiologists and health experts.
“I request people to not believe in hearsay and rumours on what to do and what not to do on Coronavirus…,” said Dingo while paying rich tributes to BJP ideologue Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 68th death anniversary on Wednesday.
As a mark of respect to Dr Mookerjee, a tree plantation drive was also conducted in and around the Government Hindi Secondary School, Kanglatongbi by the BJP Imphal West District and Sekmai Mandal under the aegis of H Dingo, also Co-Convener, Joint Committee of Covid-19, where around 400 plants were planted.
He also called on the people to plant at least one tree to show their commitment to the future generation and to the environment from degradation.
