Imphal: A four-day workshop for resource persons of the 29th National children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2021 conducted successfully here Tuesday.
It may be mentioned that NCSC is a flagship program of the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It has been providing a platform to the young innovative minds of children in the age group of 10-17 years to nurture their innovativeness to find solutions to societal problems of the country. It has covered children from all across the country with diverse languages and cultures, school-going children or non-school goers and also differently-abled children.
Over the last 28 years, it has covered diverse topics like weather and climate, energy, nutrition, biodiversity, land resources etc. Thousands of children participate every year in this program and many others like guides, resource persons, evaluators, organizers etc. get involved with this unique program and its year-long activities with an effort to inculcate scientific temperament among the children.

The pandemic of Covid-19 that reigned all through the year 2020 turned out to be the most challenging times of the present millennia. However, the zeal and enthusiasm of the stakeholders including coordinators, resource persons, evaluators, mentors, guide teachers, and even child scientists turned the challenges into opportunities, said a statement.
The first workshop of guide teachers of Imphal East and Imphal West was held on 30th October 2021 at Wangkhei High School. Thirty teachers from different schools and secondaries attended the training. On the second day, a State-level training of resource persons was held on 31st October 2021 at Science Center, Takyel Imphal. Resource persons from different districts of Manipur attended the training program. The training concluded with an agreement to bring forward good quality projects.
On 1st November 2021, a training of guide teachers for the Bishnupur district was conducted at CI college. Twenty prospective guide teachers participated in the workshop.

Finally, on 2nd November 2021, a training of guide teachers for Thoubal district was held at Global Academy, Thoubal. Eleven prospective guide teachers attended the workshop.
The resource persons of the workshops were Dr A. Dinamani Singh, Dr R K Imosana, Dr Devajit Athokpam, N. Shyamkishore, Nabakumar Roy and Yaiphaba Chenglei.
It may be noted that the schedule of the 29th NCSC 2021 will be as follows
Imphal East District NCSC-: 28th November 2021; Imphal West district NCSC-: 5th December 2021; Bishnupur District NCSC- 4th December 2021 and Thoubal District NCSC- 3rd December 2021.
