Essential service personnel on duty on election day can avail postal ballot

Fire Services, Ambulance Services and Media persons authorized by ECI for poll day coverage who on account of being on duty on the day of poll to be held on February 27, 2022 and March 3,2022, will not be able to be present in their respective polling station, can cast their vote by postal ballot.

uch Absentee Voters (AVES) wishing to vote by postal ballot has to make application to the Returninq Officer in Form-l 2D giving all the3 requisite particulars and these applications are required to be verified the Nodal Officer appointed by the organization. The applications should reach the Returning Officer during the period from the date of announcement of election to five days following the date of notification.

Last date for receipt of form-12D for the 1st phase is February 6, 2022 and the last date for receipt of form-12D for the 2nd  phase February 9, 2022.

Returning Officer concerned shall identify a suitable location to be the Postal Voting Centre (PVC) for issuing of Postal Ballot to AVES and for facilitating their voting in such centre and thereafter for their collection. PVC shall be within the territory of the constituency (central part). Returning Officer concerned shall send intimation through SMS, BLO, Nodal Officer and Website of the DEO about the Full address of PVC, Dates on which the PVC will remain open for 3 consecutive days during 9 AM to 5 PM for voting. lf AVES does not turn up, there is no requirement to send the PBP to him, said a press note issued by the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur N. Praveen Singh.
