Droupadi Murmu visits spiritual leader Matha Amrithanandamayi Devi

On her arrival at Amrithapuri, the President was welcomed by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Ashram authorities including Swami Amrita Swarupananda and other devotees.

Thiruvananthapuram: President Droupadi Murmu visited spiritual leader Matha Amrithanandamayi Devi at her Ashram at Amrithapuri near Karnagapally in Kollam on Friday.

On her arrival at Amrithapuri, the President was welcomed by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Ashram authorities including Swami Amrita Swarupananda and other devotees.

Earlier this morning, the President who is on a maiden visit to Kerala, was given a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the Indian Air Force and Indian Army led by Lt Col Stalin Rex of 91 Infantry Brigade at Air Force Technical Area, Shangumugham.

After the visit at Amrithapuri, she left to the State Capital to inaugurate the Silver Jubilee celebration of Kudumbashree at Udaya Palace Convention Centre at Kowdiar.

On March 18 the President will pay tributes at Vivekananda Smarak and statue of Thiruvalluvar and visit the Vivekananda Kendra in Kanniyakumari in Tamil Nadu.

On the same evening, she will attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour at Kavaratti in Lakshadweep.

On March 19, the President will interact with members of Self Help Groups at Kavaratti. Later, she will return to New Delhi via Kochi on March 21.
