Puri: Baseli Sahi police on the direction of Puri SP K Vishal Singh has registered a criminal case against sub-inspector Prabhudatta Biswal for allegedly outraging the modesty of a lady on August 22 last.
Police sources on Wednesday said a case U/S 447, 354,354(a), 294, 506 and 34 of IPC was registered against the police officer on December 10 last.
The complainant, a student of mass communication and resident of Mangalaghat near Badapakhar Jagah under the Baselisahi PS limits had filed a complaint with the Baselisahi police station on December 2 last.
In her complaint sent by registered post, she alleged that the sub-inspector Biswal had forcibly entered her house on August 22 last at about 9.30 pm when she was alone and inquired about her parents.
When she told him that her parents were not in the house, the SI scolded her in filthy language and allegedly outraged her modesty.
On December 6 the lady filed a complaint with the SP stating that the Baselisahi police did not take action in response to her complaint though it was received by the PS on December 3.
On December 10 last the case was registered and the DSP of HRPC Basanti Naik was appointed as investigating officer.
Finally, the SP directed the Baseli sahi police to register a criminal case against the police officer.
