Youth sentenced to 10 years RI for raping a minor girl

According to the prosecution on June 24, 2020, the accused Suresh Mallik raped the minor girl when she was at the house with her sibling as her parents had gone for treatment.

Kendrapara:Ad-hoc Additional Session Judge (Fast Track) Court Tribikram Keshari Chinhara on Tuesday sentenced a youth to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs 20,000 for raping a minor girl.

According to the prosecution on June 24, 2020, the accused Suresh Mallik raped the minor girl when she was at the house with her sibling as her parents had gone for treatment.

He threatened the victim to kill her and also her parents if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

The accused raped her several times in three months.

The minor girl later brought the matter to her father. The father lodged an FIR with the Derabish police station against Suresh Malik.

Acting on the FIR, Derabish police registered a case under Section 363,376(2)(f), 376(2)(n) of IPC; Under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and arrested him.

While adjudicating the case the Judge on Tuesday convicted the youth and sentenced him to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 20,000.

The judge ordered that in default of the fine amount the convict would further serve.

The Judge further ordered that the fine amount, if paid, shall be provided to the victim to meet the medical expenses incurred by her and towards her rehabilitation, as prescribed Under Section 4(3) of the POCSO Act, Special Public Prosecutor Manoj Sahu said.
