Covid 19: Odisha reports 428 new cases in the past 24 hrs, Tally surges to 10,17,261

As many as 682 people were recovered from the virus on Monday taking the total recoveries to 10,02,810 while the active cases further reduced to 6290.

Bhubaneswar: For the second consecutive day Odisha reported less than 500 new cases in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,17,261 with 8108 fatalities.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said only 252 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 176 local contact cases during the past 24 hours from 22 districts.

Khordha district recorded the highest number of 179 cases followed by Cuttack ( 46), Jajpur(21), Jagatsinghpur (20) and Balasore ( 18 )

These five coastal districts have recorded nearly 66 per cent of the new cases reported in the state in the past 24 hours.

At least nine districts in the state recorded zero infection while 27 districts reported no covid death in the past 24 hours.

According to the health audit report four more covid deaths, two from Khordha district and one each from Cuttack and Puri district were reported in the state pushing the fatalities in the state to 8108.

Khordha and Cuttack districts recorded 2556 and 850 active cases respectively contributing 54.14 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

The test positivity rate of the state continued to remain below 1 per cent for the second day today. It marginally reduced from 0.9 per cent on Monday to 0.8 per cent today.

Khordha district has recorded the highest TPR of 3.5 per cent followed by Cuttack(1.8 per cent ) and Jagatsinghpur (1.4 per cent). The other 27 districts however recorded a test positivity rate of less than one per cent, seven of them have zero TPR.
