Shillong: Cases of COVID-19 infection shot up in Meghalaya with nine new cases detected on Tuesday, taking active cases up to 104, even as four more recoveries took the number of recovered cases to 13, 881 in the State.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said all the new COVID-19 cases detected on Wednesday were in the East Khasi Hills district.
With 69 active COVID-19 cases, the East Khasi Hills, that includes State capital Shillong
is the most affected district, followed by West Garo Hills with 25 active cases as per the
latest count.
So far, Meghalaya has registered 14, 135 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 150 deaths with 1.06 per cent case fatality rate.
Dr. War informed that 99, 586 persons from outside have entered the State from
outside since the onset of the pandemic till date.
On the other hand, 22, 494 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 15, 312 had received the second dose, while 32, 987 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 19, 157 got the second dose as on Tuesday.
Moreover, 34, 700 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 1, 352 were inoculated with the
second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the State.
