Imphal: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday exuded confidence that the grand old party will form the next government in Manipur as he claimed that there is an “undercurrent” of anger against the ruling BJP.

“We will form the next government in Manipur. There is an ‘undercurrent’ of anger against BJP in the state,” he said, while interacting with the party candidates and workers here.

Accusing the BJP of doing ‘divisive’ politics, the former Congress president said, “BJP is creating an atmosphere of hatred and anger, and diving people. We are not going to allow this in Manipur. We will defend the tradition, language and culture of all the people of Manipur.”

He further said, “BJP not only attacks the democratic system, it also attacks the institutional framework that supports it. So, to defend it, we have fight the BJP.”

“We are duty bound to protect the impartiality of our institutional structure. The Judiciary, the Election Commission, Free Press and Bureaucracy, we view this as the instruments of the people of India and not our own personal institutions like the BJP and RSS,” the Congress MP said.

Asked about what step will the party take to solve ‘insurgency’ issue if it comes to power, he said, ” We are in favour of ‘dialogue’ to solve this type of problem.”
