CM Biren lays foundation stone for Haj House

Chief Minister further stated that decency must be maintained by one and all while using social media, abstain from uploading comments which might hurt others’ character and image.

Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh Friday laid the foundation Stone of Manipur State Haj House at Usoipokpi, Lilong under Thoubal district

Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony Chief Minister N. Biren Singh recalled his statement in the year 2018 about the importance for the construction of Haj House in Manipur. The centre would be multi-utility one for Muslim community, providing accommodation and imparting training for the Haj Pilgrimage. CM stated that he will instruct the implementing agency to complete the Haj House within one year. The government is gearing up for the completion of Ima market at Lilong which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister when he visited Manipur on January 4, 2022.

Chief Minister further stated that decency must be maintained by one and all while using social media, abstain from uploading comments which might hurt others’ character and image. The government has set up Cyber Crime Special Unit and those who are found misusing social media will be booked promptly under the law.

The government has taken a decision to pay  Rs 30,000 per month as an honorarium to the Chairman, Haj Committee. The Cabinet will also take up for discussion payment of 7th pay to WAKF board staff, Minority Commission staff and reservation in Higher Education. The government is considering imparting skill development training in the Meitei-Pangal areas. Chief Minister urged the youth to wake up and stand against drugs and make Lilong a totally drug-free area. He also mooted village wise/house wise survey to identify economically backward families so that government may be able to extend need based necessary support in uplifting the underprivileged section. 

The foundation Stone laying ceremony was organized by Minority Affairs Department, Government of Manipur. The Haj House will be constructed under the scheme for Special Assistance to State for Capital Expenditure during 2021-22 with a project cost of 10.00 crore. Mentioned may be made that the land for the construction of Haj House was donated by Hafiz Quary Quayamuddin.
