CM Biren attends last rite of Jemadar who died due to Covid after election duty

Ronald had gone for election duty in Assam and West Bengal and got infected with COVID-19 following which he was treated at Guwahati Medical College and breathed his last on Thursday.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh Saturday attended the funeral of Waikhom Ronald of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai, Jemadar of Manipur Rifles, who died of Covid after performing election duty in West Bengal.

Ronald had gone for election duty in Assam and West Bengal and got infected with COVID-19 following which he was treated at Guwahati Medical College and breathed his last on Thursday.

Chief Minister said on a social network site that uninterrupted power supply has been provided to both oxygen plants at Bishnupur and Patsoi. State government officials are helping and monitoring at the workplace, he said.

He also chaired a meeting of all Ruling MLAs on Friday to deliberate over the prevailing Covid-19 situation and upsurge in positive cases in the State, and policies to tackle the spread of the pandemic.

During the meeting, it was resolved to reactivate the constituency-wise Covid Care Committee headed by the MLA for each constituency and empower it to tackle any emergency falling out of the Covid Second Wave.

It was also decided to have One Covid Care Centre in each Assembly Constituency, better management of vaccination process, foodgrains distribution, engagement of more frontline staff etc. were also considered in the meeting.
