The family registered a kidnapping case against the youth and complained following the incident, ailing father of the girl died in the hospital getting shocked eloping his daughter with a different community.

A team of three policemen including a lady constable reached Chennai last night to bring them back to the state after getting transit remand. Allegedly, Rubel Hussain (21) a resident of the Jatrapur police station of Sonamura in Sepahijala district has kidnapped a girl of the Natuntilla area in the locality who had attained 18 –yrs only the day she left home.

According to the report, the girl has been in relation with Rubel for the last few months but the girl’s family didn’t agree to solemnise her marriage. Reportedly, on April 29 last there was a big quarrel in the girl’s family over the issue, following which her father has fallen ill and night he was shifted to Agartala Govt Medical College.

Taking advantage of the busyness in the family, Rubel and the girl planned to flee away to Chennai where Rubel has some contact to stay. Accordingly, Rubel with the girl boarded the Agartala-Chennai flight yesterday morning. However, a close relative of the girl got to know their travel and informed the police.

Based on the input, Superintendent of Police Sepahijala Krishnendu Chakravartty alerted Agartala airport police station and Chennai airport police station after getting confirmation of their travel from the Airport Authority. In the late evening when the duo de-boarded, Meenambakkam circle police detained them and took their custody.

Tripura police have also sent a team to Jatrapur police station led by sub-inspector Vidya Debbarma. Meanwhile, the family alleged that the father of the girl has expired last evening getting shocked eloping his daughter with a Muslim boy.
