Bodies of 4 travelers from Assam retrieved

The place of occurrence witnessed heavy fog and their car might have skidded off the road due to that but the exact cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, police had said.

Itanagar: The search and rescue operation launched by NDRF and district police personnel for the four missing travelers from Assam ended with the retrieval of the last body of the quartet from a deep gorge in between Nechipu’s Zero Point and Sessa in West Kameng district on Saturday evening, police said.

The lifeless bodies of the four young tourists, who went missing on Tuesday, were found lying in a deep valley on Friday. While the bodies of Nayan Basumatary (30) and Sanjib Das (34) were retrieved on Friday itself, and the dead body of Bedanta Bormahela (30) was recovered around 12 noon on Saturday while that of Hirok Jyoti Boro (32), who was the owner of the ill-fated vehicle, was retrieved at around 6 pm, West Kameng DySP Sang Norbu Phaichulupa said.

After completing the formalities, the bodies of Basumatary, Das and
Bormahela were handed over to their families, while the dead body of Boro was sent for postmortem and will be handed over to his relatives
tomorrow, the DySP was added.

The deceased had entered Arunachal through the Bhalukpong check gate
on July 18, and after a night halt at Dirang, they were returning on July 19 evening by a car when they met with the accident and went missing since then. The place of occurrence witnessed heavy fog and their car might have skidded off the road due to that but the exact cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, police had said.
