Black Day observed in Manipur

Manipur became a part of India on 15 October 1949 and the day is observed as Black day, Eclipse day.

Imphal: Life came to complete standstill on Saturday in the state due to the observation of Black day. 

Various organisations including the umbrella body of all militant outfits, Cor Com imposed total shut down to oppose the annexation of Manipur on 15 October, 1949.

Manipur became a part of India on 15 October 1949 and the day is observed as Black day, Eclipse day. All business and educational institutes were also closed down. All inter and intra state 

passenger services were also cancelled in view of the observation.

So far there was no report of any untoward incident. Security measures were also taken up by the state government.
