Imphal: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Saturday strongly condemned the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee for its ‘unconstitutional’ pledge in their manifesto which says that it would remove the present BJP government in the state after the INDIA alliance comes to power at the centre.

Johnson Elangbam, spokesperson, BJP, speaking to media persons at Thambal Sanglen (BJP Bhavan), said that the present state government is a law-abiding institution under the constitution of India and removal of a popular government is highly unethical and ‘unconstitutional’ on the side of the opposition party. At the same, the claims of the Congress that it would defend the constitution in its para 5 of Chapter 8 in the ‘Manifesto’ is self-contradictory of the grand old party, Johnson maintained.

The activist turned politician, claimed that Congress is a party which is sinking whenever it moves and urged the people not to believe in such ‘bogus’ claims.

Questioning the Congress’ call for an ‘administrative settlement’ in all the issues concerning the state, Johnson said that there is apprehension in the public whether the Congress and its senior leaders had actually agreed to the demands of ‘Separate administration’ by the Kukis in Manipur.

The BJP leader also wondered why not a single word on ‘NRC’ was mentioned in the Congress manifesto and suggested that the drafting of the Manifesto appeared to be done in haste without consultation with state leaders. Johnson also pointed out the difference of opinion between Rahul Gandhi and the present candidate of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency, Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam.
